The Media Freedom Status Index in Jordan issued by The Middle East Media and Policy Studies Institute (MEMPSI) reported in the presence of editors in chief and media institute directors that media and press freedom in Jordan are within the context of relative freedom, which is a satisfactory result.

The index showed that the media press in Jordan has increased significantly reaching 67.5%, which lies within the range of most free between 59.7% and 79.8%. The ranking is a result of not closing down press and media institutes and other factors.

Chairman of the Board of Directors Mohammed Fakhri Al Ajlouni stated that The Middle East Media and Policy Studies Institute (MEMPSI) issued this report to emphasize that the results reflect reality as reported by researchers according to the scientific basis and internationally recognized standards.

This report is issued yearly by conducting studies that aim to portray the media and press freedom in Jordan, as well as identify affecting factors using a framework of 23 internationally recognized indicators that convey the reality of press and media freedom accurately and objectively.
