Mongolia has found a new strong market in China after official talks with Beijing come to fruition. The country houses up to 50 flour mills with a capacity of 943 thousand tons of wheat per year. Mongolia’s average domestic demand for wheat is 280,000 tons a year, and this year it has harvested 60,000 tons more.
Ts. Bolorchuluun, who is the head of the Policy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Food and Light Industry, said that they expect to increase their wheat cultivation and earn some income from flour exports in the next four years.
He added that farmers will have the opportunity to exploit the situation and grow wheat, regardless of wheat sales. He said that Mongolia’s flour mills can grind more than a million tons of wheat.
