After the Iraqi parliament finally set next Wednesday as the date for the presidential elections, Iraqis are awaiting the results with anticipation.
The early Iraqi parliamentary elections took place more than five months ago, on October 10, 2021, to form a new government in response to the demands of the 2019 protests.
Prior to the session, Iraqi political parties and blocs, regardless of their orientations, are seeking solutions to form the required quorum and prevent the session from failing.
Some members of the bloc stressed the need to reach a consensus on the election of the President of the Republic and the formation of the government in order to avoid postponing the session, which may lead to the dissolution of the House of Representatives and its re-election.
