Five months after the Iraqi parliamentary elections, the Iraqi political forces and people are awaiting the presidential election session.
Parliaments again failed to nominate a candidate due to the postponement of the session that was scheduled for last month, as many political parties boycotted the session.
This led to a dispute over the election of the President of the Republic or later the selection of the Prime Minister-designate. Forty candidates are vying for the presidency in a parliamentary session scheduled for Saturday.
Meanwhile, the political blocs continued their efforts to gain more support from independents for their candidates.
