The Iraqi young man, Zaid Jassim, was able to generate renewable energy to supply his home and overcome the issue of frequent power outages in Basra, southern Iraq.
He designed a solar system consisting of small cells of about 100 to 200 watts and batteries up to a volume of three kilowatts, placing it on the roof of his house.
Jassim pointed out that the solar system has made him self-sufficient that he stopped using fuel-powered generators, calling on Iraqis to use renewable energy because of its positive impact on the economy and environment.
The Assistant Governor of Basra, Moeen Al-Hassan, said that Iraq and Basra, in particular, tend to adopt renewable energy in the future through holding conferences and receiving proposals to develop the alternative energy sector. Basra Governorate plans to launch three stations with a total capacity of 1,000 megawatts to complete solar energy projects.
