Due to difficult economic conditions in Gaza Strip, Walaa Abdel Moneim, an Agricultural Engineer, started up a plant nursery in her own land to grow strawberries in hanging baskets, which is popular in the Gazan city of Beit Lahia.
High unemployment rates forced the woman to look for another source of income to support her family, so she started a business in the field she loves. Hanging strawberry, also known as red gold, has a yield three times higher than that of the ground.
The engineer packs the crop into plastic boxes to sell to merchants or shops.
