Controversy over Iraqi Federal Court’s decision, position of President of the Republic

“Analysts and observers see that Iraq has now entered the phase of a political vacuum, yet has no effect in reality, especially since the constitution did not indicate any consequences for this vacuum, whether politically or even constitutionally.

The political forces in the country are still living in a state of disagreement regarding the position of the President of the Republic, and the position of the Prime Minister.

The decision of the Speaker of the Parliament to reopen the candidate registration process for the position of President of the Republic and to proceed with the election before the formation of the next government, raised questions about its legality after the Federal Supreme Court later ruled that the decision was unconstitutional.
