Iraqis established the country’s first team for reptiles breeding in Basrah with the aim of educating people about the types of reptiles, especially non-poisonous snakes, and reducing their import.
The team organized a carnival in Basrah Sports City, in which various types of reptiles were presented. It was attended by a large number of people who were enthusiastic about taking pictures with animals.
Reptiles breeding began in the West in the 1960s but reached the Arab world only twenty years ago, according to the team leader, adding that their prices range between 300-250,000 USD depending on their types and mutation.
