The widespread of electronic books and publications made the ancient library in Aden, southern Yemen, lack visitors, and books and manuscripts are left inside the library for days if not weeks without a reader or researcher pulling it.

The library is only visited by university students, whose assignments force them to visit the 3-story library, where some books in it are estimated to be more than 5 centuries old.

The library is also marginalized in the development of its electronic archive, which is still waiting for the promises made by organizations and government institutions that have gone unfulfilled for years.

The community activist, Abdullah Ali, says that the ancient library of Aden contains scientific and literary books and is used to attract intellectuals from Aden and different governorates in Yemen.

Ali called on the local authorities in Aden to reconsider this library, which plays its pioneering educational and enlightening role in the governorate.
