The summer season in Thailand runs from February through May, as the weather tends to be warm this time of the year. Mammals, especially dogs and cats, are susceptible to rabies.
As a result, many people and animals die from highly infectious diseases. In response to the authorities have launched an initiative to vaccinate pets and animals across the country.
The initiative is aimed at stemming the spread of diseases such as rabies to reduce the problem of rabies-associated epidemic and death of pets and people.
Rabies is often rampant around this time of the year, Manat Dee, the president of Khlong Niyom Yatra Sub-District Administrative Organization, said, adding that pets would be prone to symptoms. He said that it was evident that in Khlong Niyom Yatra Sub-District, there are some 1,000 dogs and cats in total.
