A delegation of more than 60 American diplomats and staff led by U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia W. Patrick Murphy is celebrating U.S. Embassy Week in Siem Reap, as part of America-Cambodia 2022 (#AmCam2022) between the U.S. and Cambodia.
The participants included officials from the Department of State, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Homeland Security Investigations, and other sections and agencies at the Embassy. They engaged with Cambodian partners in public health, education, culture, business, youth, demining, and law enforcement, as a demonstration of the United States’ commitment to Siem Reap’s people.
The event yesterday also saw a performance of Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus at Week reception for partners, beneficiaries, and friends.
Ambassador Murphy’s activities cover visiting a local hospital supported by the U.S. CDC, presiding over a roundtable discussion with LGBTQI+ advocates, and paying tribute to the three Cambodian Self-Help Demining technicians who lost their lives in service last month.
“We are the U.S. Embassy to all of Cambodia’s 25 provinces,” the Ambassador said. “And we are incredibly excited to bring our team here to Siem Reap.”
