Binas, remote town in Sulaymaniyah preserves a five-century old Qur’an

People of Binas town, located on the Iraqi-Iranian border, Sulaymaniyah, preserve an old copy of the Qur’an, which they believe dates back to more than 500 years.

The Qur’an was known as the Book of Imam Dawood; attributed to one of the preachers in the village, who wrote it and recited it one thousand times.

The Qur’an has a historical and religious value to the people of the town and other towns as they come to swear on it.

This copy of the Qur’an is distinguished by rare paper, coated with an oily substance, while written in black and red ink.
