Iraqi Kurdistan has a long history of playing old traditional games, which have been a part of the country’s heritage and traditions for thousands of years. These games are now passed down to future generations, away from the computerized games that have invaded this country. Al-Kalaween in Kurdish and the Hat Game in Arabic, similar to the Shell Game, it is one of the most popular winter games in rural areas, particularly in Sulaymaniyah, where people of different ages meet in a circle of six people, each three are a team, and the game begins with a stone or a nut hidden in the hats and paws, followed by a search for it, with sweets and nuts offered during the game. Other old games have gained a foothold among the youth, helping to keep them alive in the minds of future generations as a popular heritage.
