Most people in Cambodia’s Kampong Speu access clean water, toilets

The majority of people in eight districts in Kampong Speu province have access to clean water and toilets thanks to the help of a dozen of NGOs, according to provincial governor Vei Samnang.

A report given by Samnang to Khmer Times said that those NGOs are UNICEF, WaterAid, LWD, World Vision, ARD, SNV, COCD, CWA, ODS, Teuk Saat 1001 NGO, and EMW.

The report said out of 188,466 families across the province, 160,864 families have toilets while 11,991 still use shared ones.

It said that Kampong Speu province reached 91.72 % of hygiene, while Chbar Mon City and Baset district practiced the first best hygiene in the province.

The second best place went to Samraong Tong and Kong Pisei districts which achieved 97.52% and 95.72% of hygiene respectively.

The lowest hygiene is an Oral district, with 57.58%. However, 27,602 toilets are still needed to be built, the report said.
