Cambodian PM wins prestigious Peace Award

Prime Minister Hun Sen has been awarded the Sunhak Peace Prize Founder’s Award in recognition of his ‘steadfast leadership over many years as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, contributing to stability, economic development and peace in Cambodia and in the Southeast Asian region at large.’

The chair of the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation, Thomas G. Walsh, Ph D added that ‘the Committee recognizes your efforts to promote peace in the wider region of the Asia Pacific, including your call for the establishment of an Asia-Pacific Union.’

The Sunhak Peace Prize is an international peace prize established in 2015 to honor the peace vision of its founders, the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.

The award was established to recognize individuals and organizations that have served humanity in exemplary ways, making the world better for future generations.

The award will be presented during an Award Ceremony on February 12, 2022 in Seoul, Korea.

The PM’s son, Hun Many, congratulated his father, saying:

‘As a Cambodian citizen, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who has been selected by the Sun Hak Peace Prize Fund Committee of the Republic of Korea. Winner of the Sunhak Peace Prize 2022. The decision to determine Samdech’s candidacy is based on wise leadership in maintaining peace, stability and economic development in the Kingdom of Cambodia as well as in the whole of Southeast Asia. This underscores the recognition of the World Peace Institute for the dedication, commitment and achievements of Samdech as a leader who has sacrificed his physical and mental strength for the cause of peace for most of his life.’
