Sit-in for Blind and Visually Impaired People in Gaza to Demand their Right to Work

0 126

A crowd of incensed blind and visually impaired people in Gaza organized a sit-in to mark the International Day of Disabled Persons in front of the General Personnel Council in Gaza. The protest was sparked after the council issued a number of arbitrary decisions that denied people with visual impairment to work, listing them as “incapable of work”. These decisions were lashed out, given the fact that they go against all international and legitimate laws that stipulate their right; to be part of society and live-in dignity. It is worth mentioning that unemployment in Gaza is on the rise, hitting a new rate of 57%.
