NGOs in Gaza conducted a re-maintenance project to restore over 100 broken-down fishing boats in the Gaza port, aiming to enable their owners to resume their work. The Israeli authorities have banned the owners of the boats from importing the fiber material used in the restoration of boat hulls, spare parts, and fishing nets, resulting in the suspension of most of them or working in the sea with worn-out boats risking their lives, especially during winter. Meanwhile, in light of the grim conditions in Gaza, many Gazans work in the fishing profession as a major and only source of income.
