Luxury car driven by Chinese bursts into flames in Cambodia

A luxury car belonging to a Chinese national near burst into flames, surprising residents in the area.

The incident happened on December 4, at 9:20 a.m. The fire happened near Prince Mall in Village 1, Sangkat 3, Preah Sihanouk City.

Local authorities at the scene reported that before the incident, they saw a white luxury car, Toyota Alphat with the license plate Phnom Penh 1BB 7158, being driven by a Chinese national stopping at the traffic light in front of the hotel near Prince Mall.

Authorities continued that after a while, smoke was seen coming out of the hood of the vehicle. This caused the Chinese man to panic and get out of the car. After he left the car, flames burst out of the car. Tricycle and motorcycle drivers in the area tried to assist in extinguishing the flames, but they could not put out the fire as it grew stronger.

After a while, the fire brigade of Preah Sihanouk Provincial Gendarmerie arrived to put out the fire but they also failed to put out the flames before the car was totally destroyed.

The cause of the fire was said to be short-circuiting.

According to the report of authorities, the Chinese man walked away from the scene of the burning car and ignored the incident. The identity of the Chinese man is still unknown.
