Interior Minister Sar Kheng met with Indian Ambassador Dr Devyani Khobragade on Thursday to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries as Cambodia steps up to chair Asean.
The Ambassador said the long-time relationship between Cambodia and India is linked through culture, civilisation and religion.
She also informed Kheng of India’s support on Cambodian issues including local development and human resource training. She expressed her pleasure to further expand this cooperation.
She added that 2022 will be an important year between Cambodia and India, with Cambodia holding the Asean chairmanship and also a year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Khobragade said she is pleased to continue to strengthen and expand cooperation in various fields under the responsibility of the Interior Ministry.
Kheng also expressed his pleasure at accepting her intention of strengthening and expanding relations between the two sides. Both sides will continue to promote the implementation of agreements or memoranda that they have signed in the past in order to achieve better results for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.
