The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has announced its support for the future candidacy of Dr. Hun Manet for the post of Prime Minister.
“Dr. Manet is an outstanding Cambodian, who has all qualifications, is highly educated, highly capable, highly talented, has good virtues and morals, has been admired and respected by the general public, civil servants, and the armed forces, and has been actively leading and participating in the mission for the cause of the Cambodian nation, motherland, and people,” said the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of CPP in a statement on Dec. 4.
“The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of CPP strongly believes and hopes that Manet is the right person to be the future Prime Minister of Cambodia to continue the defense of territorial integrity, peace and social stability, national prestige enhancement, and national development in all fields for the prosperity, happiness, and well-being of the Cambodian people,” the statement underlined.
On Dec. 2, Hun Sen, Prime Minister and CPP President announced his full support to Dr. Hun Manet, to be a future Prime Minister candidate, explaining that as a father, training his children to become prime minister is not wrong.
Manet, a three-star general, is Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army since 2018. He is the eldest son of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Bun Rany Hun Sen.
Dr. Manet was born on Oct. 20, 1977, in Koh Thmar village, Memot district, Kampong Cham province (now Thbong Khmum province) during the Khmer Rouge rule of Cambodia. He is married to Pich Chanmony with two daughters and one son.
