The Tourism Ministry on Friday announced health measures for New Year Eve December 31 and International New Year’s Day January 1, as people are expected to travel across the country.

Tourists and businesses are cautioned to continue implementing the 3 Do’s and 3 Don’ts, and use the Stop Covid-19 QR Code at each location.

The ministry called for tourism-related businesses including restaurants, accommodations and transportation to reduce their capacity.

According to the ministry, coastal areas including Kampot, Kep and Preah Sihanouk provinces have become the most popular tourist destinations for domestic tourists.

Cambodia Tourism Association president Chhay Sivlin said: “This shows the Cambodian people are learning to live with the Covid-19 crisis, which could revive domestic tourism. In particular, national tourism has provided employment opportunities for employees in this field,” she said.

“Through management in each province, we see that the authorities do not allow overcrowded gatherings,” she said.

If everyone respects the prescribed health guidelines, it will be no risk as the country reopens for foreign vaccinated tourists, she said.
