Despite the technological progress that swept numerous industries and the competitive prices of manufactured rugs and carpets, diligent women in Sulaymaniyah insist on preserving the Kurdish heritage by promoting their antique handmade Kurdish rugs. The handmade Carpet and furnishings factory in Sulaymaniyah, founded in 1997, is among the oldest plants in such business. It is well-known for its eye-catching handmade rugs, adorned with folklore embroidery.
