A man, speculated to be a Cambodian worker, was trampled to death by wild elephants in Thailand.

Based on preliminary reports from the border area, the freak accident case happened at midnight on November 8. The tragic incident took place in Nong Klam Road, Village 1, Khao Keo Commune, Tha Mai District, Chanthaburi Province, Thailand.

As of the evening of November 9, no information on the victim has been released. However, the victim is speculated to be a 22-year-old Cambodian man.

Near the body of the deceased, a motorcycle was found smashed to pieces. Thai authorities concluded that it must have been destroyed by the herd of elephants. They continued that the man must have been driving his motorcycle in the dark and collided with an elephant. The scare caused the elephants to feel threatened and trample the man to death. This theory was proposed due to the elephant footprints found in the area.

This came after the same case happened last week. Two people were also killed by a herd of elephants. They were suspected of being Cambodian workers from a nearby plantation.

The Governor of Kamrieng District in Battambang, Sok Kom Khon, reported that no information on the cases and the victims have been handed in.
