Nearly half tons of Cannabis seize at the banks of the Mekong River

On November 16, the relevant forces had joined together to announce the seizure of 480 cannabis bars weighing approximately 480 kg at the Sangkhom Boat Station that were seized on the banks of the Mekong River nearby Baan Pak Som area, Pha Tang village, Sangkhom district, Nong Khai province at 7.30pm on November 15, 2021.

 

Thanakorn Ritjohol, Head of Social Boat Station, informed that the success of seizure of nearly half a ton of marijuana this time was informed by the call on November 14, 2021, that there would be drug smuggling from the neighboring countries into Thailand at Baan Pak Som area. Therefore, he reported to the supervisors and organized a series of patrols and went on to look for in-depth news and deployed ambush guards at risk points, and coordinated with the relevant authorities until around 7:20 p.m. on November 15, 2021.

 

The surveillance unit has a night endoscope. One long shaft hoof boat was found with two people on board inside the full tanker sailing away from the neighboring countries towards the Thai side. While a mobile watchdog was approaching the target, the ship detected a white unknown registration number multipurpose vehicle parked nearby. They quickly drove off when those on board saw the officers.

 

While honking the signal horn, the hoof boats moored on the shore quickly drove the ship back to the neighboring countries. Officers pinned down at the scene waiting for support teams. When the support teams did not find any individuals or irregularities, they inspected the area, expecting the drug to be left behind.
There were 12 black plastic bags found next to a forest on the banks of the Mekong River. The inside of the bag found marijuana hidden inside, so all the central seized to the Sangkhom Boat Station for detailed inspection. According to the investigation, a total of 480 cannabis bars weighing about 480 kg were then sent to the Social Police for further legal proceedings.
