More than 13.2 million Cambodians completed second jab of COVID-19 vaccine

More than 13.2 million people in Cambodia have completed their two-dose course of the COVID-19 vaccine since the first jab was administered on February 10.

The 13.2 million comprise adults aged 18 and above, adolescents aged 12 to 18, and children aged six to 12.

They comprise 9,680,656, 1,708,901 and 1,814,291 respectively. Of these females comprise 6,613,710 while those ineligible comprise 73,143, of whom 40,312 are females.

The total number of people vaccinated are 14,051,925, comprising:

  • Adults aged 18 and above – 10,056,090 people or 100.56 percent
  • Adolescents aged 12 to 18 -1,799,199 people or 98.46 percent
  • Children aged six to 12 – 1,967,018 people or 103.67 percent
  • Children aged five – 229,627 people or 75.45 percent.

Nationally, a total of 87.82 percent of the estimated 16 million, based on the 2019 census have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Except for adolescents whose vaccination began on August 1, the rest of the age groups have achieved and exceeded their targeted numbers while adolescents seem to be stagnating at 98.46 percent though their targeted numbers were revised downwards by 140,000.

Vaccination of three and four year old is expected to begin soon to give them immunity against the virus and enable them to return to kindergartens and nurseries to resume their in-person classes.
