Masam Project for Clearing Mines Publishes a New Report on its Accomplishments
The manager of Masam Project for Clearing Mines in Yemen, Osama Al-Gosaibi illustrated that they dismantled tens of thousands of mines during the period spanning from mid-July 2018 to November 19, 2021. During a press conference in Aden, he pointed out that an area of 27938560 square meters was cleared from mines that included anti-personnel mines, anti-tank mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices. During this, he confirmed operating demining teams in the numerous fields to cover all Yemeni areas, adding that planted landmines vary in their types. It is worth mentioning that the project was mainly mapped out to develop techniques that would clear those intricate landmines. Furthermore, he stressed the fact that those landmines are randomly planted in farmlands, streets, and markets by the Iranian Backed Houthis.
