Iraqi Political Parties Electoral Programs Face High Criticism

Criticism has been piling over programs and slogans raised by candidates for Iraq’s October 10 parliamentary elections by activists and civil forces who see them as “weak” and “repetitive”. Activists argued that the same candidates are raising the same slogans and pledges of the past which resulted in a failure in the performance of successive governments. Iraqis see these promises as “lacking serious comprehensive national projects that can achieve a real reform or improvements on their living conditions,” activists said, also expressing dismay over the quota system stipulated in the Elections Law as serving the allied political forces. Citing their religious nature, civil forces also criticized Islamic parties’ pledged programs as lacking political agenda and projects.
