Mongolian Foreign Minister and counterpart hold official talks
On October 13, Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg held official talks with Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan A.R.Rakhmetullin in the framework of her visit.
During the talks, the sides assessed the current state of relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Kazakhstan, and discussed further developing relations in sectors, such as politics, trade and economy, transport and logistics, agriculture, culture, education, and tourism as well as international and regional cooperation.
They shared the practices being implemented in both countries for economic recovery and protection of public health, overcoming the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and exchanged views on opportunities for having active bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
In its framework, the side of Mongolia expressed interest in expanding bilateral trade by increasing the supply of meat and meat products being exported from Mongolia to Kazakhstan and countries in the region and carrying out studies on introducing drought-resistant crops in the farming sector. Furthermore, a request was put forth to create active cooperation between the two countries’ veterinary and quarantine organizations as well as to make profits by utilizing the geographic location connecting the continents of Asia and Europe as landlocked countries.
Noting that a memorandum was signed between ‘Hunnu Air’ company of Mongolia and ‘SCAT’ company of Kazakhstan, the sides highlighted the development of cooperation in the aviation sector.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan A.R.Rakhmetullin also put forth a suggestion to accelerate the works to develop a roadmap for creating joint tourism routes between the two countries, expanding cooperation in the education sector, and further developing trade and economic cooperation. Moreover, it was also suggested to renew the intergovernmental agreement on supporting investment in the framework of strengthening the legal environment for cooperation.
Following the talks, the two Foreign Ministers signed the 2021-2024 plan for cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
This is the first visit by the Foreign Minister of Mongolia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Kazakhstan in 1992.
