Minister of Interior Sar Kheng said Cambodia is committed to closely cooperating with all ASEAN countries to fight against transnational crimes.
Sar Kheng made the remarks while attending the 15th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC 15) held via video conference and chaired by Brunei from September 28-30.
According to the Ministry of Interior’s press statement released on September 30, Sar Kheng pledged to combat cross-border crimes in all forms and will use all means necessary at national level and through international cooperation to address the challenges and threats posed by such crimes.
The minister also called on all ASEAN countries to continue strengthening solidarity and providing mutual assistance to combat Covid-19 and non-traditional crimes which he said are increasing and threatening national and regional security.
“[Sar Kheng] expressed Cambodia’s commitment to promoting ties and regional cooperation with other ASEAN countries in law enforcement,” the statement said.
The meeting also approved three documents including concept notes on ASEAN border cooperation roadmap, ASEAN declaration on combating transnational crimes during the Covid-19 pandemic, and a joint communique of the AMMTC 15.
