Sre Ambel district police in Koh Kong province confiscated over 200kg of illegal substances and arrested six suspects in Sre Ambel commune on October 22.
District police chief Huon Non said four of the suspects are Cambodians aged 39 to 42, all of whom are construction workers from different provinces. The two others are Thai nationals.
Non said police first stopped a suspicious motorboat carrying four people in Sre Ambel commune and found around 230kg of suspected illegal drugs.
During questioning, the four suspects said they transported the substance from another boat docked in Kampong Sdam village in the district’s Chroy Svay commune. Their confession led police to arrest the two other suspects on that boat.
Police seized the 230kg suspicious white substances packed in 10 drinking water cases along with a scale.
“The evidence and the suspects have been sent to … the provincial police for them to build a case file for referral to court,” he said.
