40 Cambodian workers arrested by Thai soldiers for crossing border illegally

Thai border security forces detained 40 Cambodians who had crossed into Thailand in search of employment on the night of Friday, October 8.

The 40 Cambodians were arrested in different parts of Aranya district, Sa Keo province, a favoured crossing point for illegal border hoppers both ways across the common border.

The 40 were tested for COVID-19 and sent back across the border on Saturday, October 9.

More and more Cambodians are trying to sneak across the border into Thailand in search of employment or re-employment after returning to Cambodia during the height of the COVID-19 crisis there.
