Warnings of flooding due to weather instability in Cambodia

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology on Saturday issued a notification on the weather situation in Cambodia, which is currently being affected by the low-pressure valley of India.

It is also affected by the weak southwest monsoon that continues to bring light to moderate rainfall

The Ministry of Water Resources has confirmed that from September 20 to 23, 2021, the weather will change drastically, with the low-pressure system re-emerging in conjunction with the active low pressure currently in the South China Sea. The northern part of Cambodia is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, on September 24, 2021, there will be a depression in the South China Sea and may increase its influence to the 15th typhoon on September 25, 2021, heading towards Vietnam, which will have a significant impact on the northeastern part of Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, according to the forecast, the weather in Cambodia from September 20 to 23, 2021 will be as follows:

1: Lowland areas: Cloudy with scattered to moderate to heavy rain, which may cause flooding in Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Speu, Pursat, Battambang, Pailin and Banteay Meanchey provinces.

2: Upland areas: Dangrek mountain range and Cardamom mountain range: Cloudy, cloudy, smog and moderate to heavy rain in Pursat (Veal Veng district), Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear and Kampong Thom provinces which could cause floods.

3: Coastal areas: Cloudy skies with heavy fog, scattered to moderate to heavy rain mixed with moderate gusts, which may cause flooding in Koh Kong province, especially national roads. National Road Number 4 can be threatened by flooding. On the sea surface, there will be rain, wind and waves of medium height.
