Minister tells local airline to restart flights in anticipation of international tourism’s re-opening in near future

Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, has instructed local airline, Sky Angkor Airlines, to be ready to reopen tourist-passenger flights- as the Royal Government of Cambodia will be ready soon to reopen ‘safe’ international tourism.

The Minister made his remarks during meeting of the Minister of Tourism with Sky Angkor Airlines on September 21, 2021.

The Minister remarked that “the Royal Government of Cambodia has been preparing to reopen international tourists (vaccinated tourists) in the near future, but in accordance with the safety tourism mechanism.”

The Minister also said that in the near future, Prime Minister Hun Sen will officially announce the opening of international ‘safe tourism’.

The Minister explained the Government plan for international tourists who visit Cambodia.

Tourists will be required to quarantine for only 7 days in safe tourist destination where there is no outbreak of COVID-19.

Therefore, the Minister instructed Sky Angkor Airlines to be ready to transport tourists as well as international travellers to visit Cambodia again.

The Minister stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia has launched a “roadmap on the restoration and promotion of tourism in Cambodia during and after the COVID-19 crisis” and a master plan for tourism development in Siem Reap and Mondulkiri provinces.

He said that the Ministry of Tourism has already prepared a strategic plan document on the opening of safe tourism in the COVID-19 phase, and also submitted to the Royal Government for review and approval.

Koo Taeoh, General Manager of Sky Angkor Airlines, said that after PM Hun Sen announced his intentions to reopen safe tourism in Cambodia, the CEO of his company immediately returned to the Republic of Korea to Work with tour companies in Korea as well as China to promote tourists to visit Cambodia

Sky Angkor Airlines schedule includes direct flights between Cambodia to many Chinese provinces as well as (Taiwan), Vietnam, Japan, Republic of Korea, and Indiaas well as domestic flights between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and Phnom Penh- and Sihanoukville.
