Delta Variant positive woman successfully gives birth

A resident of Preah Vihear who tested positive for the Delta Variant, gave birth to a healthy baby via Caesarean section at a referral hospital.

A team of doctors assisted in the birth of a child, whose mother is a Delta patient, at the January 16th Referral Hospital in Preah Vihear on the afternoon of September 25. The child is a male and weighed 4 kgs.

One of the advisers to the Ministry of Health and Director of the Preah Vihear Provincial Health Department, Dr Kuong Lo, told local news that the mother is 41-year-old Hun Dany. She is from Thomocheat Village, Sra Em Commune, Choam Ksan District. She contracted the Delta Variant on August 9 and was admitted to Choam Ksan Referral Hospital on September 23.

The Director continued that child is the woman’s third child. The baby had to be delivered via C-section due to the baby’s due date was passed. Its heart is weak and the baby was too heavy.

According to Dr Lo., the hospital in Preah have successfully delivered 6 children of Covid-19 positive mothers.
