Heavy rain in the Cambodian districts, Oddar Meanchey, caused flooding and damaged some roads in those districts.

Oddar Meanchey’s Provincial Governor, Pen Kosal, inspected the condition of the irrigation system and the residents of the flooded area in Banteay Ampil and Chongkal Districts after two consecutive days of rain measuring to more than 100 mm of rainfall.

The Governor told local news that the flooding in certain villages in Banteay Ampil and Chongkal Districts in not severe. The floodwaters inundated rural roads in some low-lying areas, but not enough to disrupt transportation.

The Governor stated that the flood occurred on September 14, due to the heavy rain, which was exacerbated by blocked waterways and drains.

The Director of Oddar Meanchey Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, Nhen Kuon, told local news on September 15 that a large part of the Governor has experienced flooding and a drain was opened to allow water to flow into the Tonle Sap Lake.
