MANILA – NorthPort continued its blitz in the PBA Philippine Cup after drubbing Terrafirma, 104-84, on Saturday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
A solid first half on both ends dictated the Batang Pier’s second straight win as they held the Dyip to only 12 points in the first quarter before dropping 33 in the second period, highlighted by rim-rattlers from Jamie Malonzo.
Garvo Lanete led the Batang Pier, who rose to a seventh-best 3-3 record, with 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting and four rebounds.
Robert Bolick added 15 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.
Malonzo was adjudged Best Player of the Game after contributing 14 points and six rebounds.
“It’s all coach Pido’s system. Wala kaming pagbabago (We didn’t change anything). At least they’re responding,” team manager Bonnie Tan said in a news release.
Tan is temporarily taking over the coaching chores from Pido Jarencio, who is undergoing quarantine along with his staff as part of league protocols.
Roosevelt Adams and Aldrech Ramos each tallied 14 points for the Dyip, who fell to 10th place at 3-6.
