Accountant killed at workplace, suspect detained

An accountant was found murdered at her workplace yesterday, September 26 – reportedly by a colleague who had called her into to work on Sunday.

The victim has been named as 27-year-old Mom Chenda, of Village 8, Sangkat Kampong Leav, Prey Veng City – who was the Accounting Manager of Vivat MFI Branch. Svay Antor district.

Authorities said that before leaving for work, the victim told her mother that the Branch Manager had called her to a meeting at the office on Sunday and she would go to the office, but did not know the reason for the meeting,

It was only when the night shift arrived at the office for work that they discovered the body of the victim.

Police say that upon the examination of the body, there were many wounds on the arms and legs, as well as a bruise on the neck, which indicates that before the victim was killed by the perpetrator.

A source described the victim as being tortured, tied up, beaten and strangled to death.

Police identified the suspect and received information that he had returned to his home in Peam Ro commune, Peam Ro district and was then taken by his family to Neak Loeung Referral Hospital,

Authorities then went to the hospital prevented the suspect from escaping until next morning,

Authorities then detained the suspect and took him to Svay Antor district HQ this morning.
