LAOAG CITY – The Manila North Road in Sitio Banquero, Barangay Pancian, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte was partially closed on Sunday to clear debris caused by yet another landslide.
The Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 1 (DPWH-1) said heavy downpour caused the landslide that rendered one lane impassable.
It was the eighth time in less than two months that the road section was either closed or partially closed.
A DPWH maintenance crew is monitoring the area for more possible landslides and flash flood may pose hazard to motorists as moderate to occasional heavy rains are affecting the area.
Jocelyn Oamar, spokesperson of DPWH-1, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) via online chat they have standby heavy equipment and crew.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are being experienced in the eastern section of Northern Luzon caused by easterlies. (PNA)
