After 40 years of absence, horse breeding returns to Lahij

Breeding of Arabian horses has returned in Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen, after a 40-year absence, as horse owners work hard by themselves to raise and take care of them, as well as training youth on equestrian sport. Horse owners seek to obtain the required government support to continue breeding horses and maintain the government’s cultural heritage which dates back four centuries. It is worth noting that, during that time, the princes of the Abdali state in Lahij were known for their passion for raising horses, however, it was neglected following the collapse of that era.
