The owners of fish farms in Gaza experienced significant losses and damages during the last war, which was exacerbated by the continued closure of the crossings for more than a month, the ban on exports, and cutting off the electricity supply, which is an essential part of fish farming. According to Khaled Abbas, in charge of the project, the sector produces about 500 tons of bream fish, 80% of which go for export. Abbas added that the continued closure of the crossing has serious consequences for the residents, with tons of fish accumulating inside the farm, and not expanding to accommodate new fish.
