Sri Lanka Welikada Prison prevents smuggling attempts at the Grand Canal

An official said that officials at the Welicada Prison Women’s Prison prevented attempts to smuggle cell phones, cell phone batteries and SIM cards. A spokeswoman Chandana Ekanayake of the Prison said that the female prison staff removed the packages wrapped in cloth in the sewer near the Welikada prison building. The seized package contained 10 mobile phones, 14 mobile phone batteries, 11 mobile phone SIM cards and a mobile phone charger. The seized materials have been handed over to Borella police for further investigation.
