Protests in Sulaymaniyah against the rise in gasoline prices

Today, Saturday, owners of private vehicles and taxis blocked the main street opposite the Sulaymaniyah Governorate building in Kurdistan, northern Iraq, in protest against the rise in the price of gasoline. The protesters say that the government has not provided any solutions to stop the recent rise in fuel prices, which affected the income, and they condemned the hike in the prices in Kurdistan while they decrease in Kirkuk which is only 50 kilometers away. The authorities in Kurdistan raised the price of gasoline in several phases, from 450 dinars to 750 dinars; the most recent was on last April.
