A protest was held in Sulaymaniyah against the decision of the regional court to imprison activists for 6 years due to their participation in the protests against what they called corruption and injustice. The protestors called on the presidency of the region to intervene and take its constitutional right to pardon them. Human rights organizations, activists, journalists, writers, and families of detainees took part in the protest, raising banners condemning the decision of the Criminal Court in the Kurdistan Region. It is noteworthy that Amnesty International and foreign countries such as America, Canada, and Britain condemned the ruling, stating that it is against freedom of expression and opinion.
