Confiscated 300 kg of marijuana in Kalasin

A suspected drug courier was arrested with 300 kilograms of compressed marijuana after a car chase in Na Khun district in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police pointed to a car with Chon Buri license plates at a checkpoint in Na Khun District. Somdet in Kalasin around 2 am after a clue that a Chevrolet Captiva was used to smuggle drugs from Sakon Nakhon province into Kalasin. The driver stopped the vehicle about 200 meters from the checkpoint, but suddenly accelerated as the officers approached the car. Highway 213 towards the center of Somdet County before turning onto Highway 12 towards Huai Phung. The officers followed him and coordinated with police in the surrounding areas to block the car, which eventually stopped in Na Khu District and ended the 70-kilometer chase. Aiyakarn Khruekham, 29, was arrested after a search found eight bags of 300 kilograms of marijuana hidden in the car, said Pol Col Witthaya Yenjit, deputy when questioned, Aiyakarn denied the drugs were his, police said claiming he was hired for 20,000 baht by a man identified only as Korn to smuggle the drugs. The suspect has been detained in the Na Khu Train Station Police Detention Center pending further legal action.
