Best known as “Manhattan of the Desert”, Shibam city is an archeological site located in the heart of Hadramaut. The town is distinguished by being the oldest skyscraper city in the world, whose houses are made out of mud-brick that stretch up to several stories. These durable houses were made of cob material that includes soil, hay, and water mixture. The town became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1885, given its unique architectural design that drew much attention from many architects
