Private power generators in Baghdad and all-around Iraq became so rampant. In alleys and residential buildings, the generators of the National Electricity Grid were substituted by private generators, not to mention that 1-ampere costs in the peak of the summer no less than 20.000 Iraqi Dinar. Citizens blame political mafias who further certain agendas and aim at impeding the national electricity rehabilitation. Some, who spoke on condition of anonymity, made it clear that militias and pro-Iran parties run these private power generators. They are primarily behind the poor national electricity system. Despite Baghdad’s Governor’s decision to set the ampere price cap, owners of private power generators haven’t complied as the government failed to provide them with fuel and they were coerced into buying it at their own cost
