“Tsuahan” Monument, a woman on the banks of the Al-Kahla River who defeated the Iranians

The “Tsuahan” monument also known as the statue of the Maysanic woman is located in the Majidiyah area, the center of Amara city, southern Iraq. The statue stands 23 meters tall and is the largest statue in the Arab world. The statue commemorates the “Messianic” woman who stood by the Iraqi fighters during the Iran-Iraq war that took place between 1980 and 1989 and was built by the late sculptor Ahmed Al-Bayati in the late 1980s. It is one of the province’s most important features because it represents the hardworking Messianic woman as she faces the harsh life. The statue consists of a woman raising the dove of peace and the wheel of progress while wearing the southern woman’s cloak and a turban over her head.
