Sri Lankan Navy launches disaster management training program in Gintota

The Navy conducted a disaster management training program at Gin Ganga, Gintota from April 5 to 10, 2021, aimed at improving skills in response to possible flood situations.

The training program is conducted in two phases by instructors from the Navy’s fast-action boat squadron’s rapid, response, rescue and relief unit (4RU). The training program provides theoretical and practical knowledge on how to use life-saving techniques and equipment to rescue personnel. In addition, the plan also focuses on dinghy handling and swimming skills to make participation more thorough.

The training program conducted in accordance with the instructions of Rear Admiral Priyansha Pereira, Commander of the Southern Naval Command consisted of 63 people, including naval personnel representing each agency of the command, army personnel from the Galle Disaster Management Center and Galle Police at the Disaster Management Center.
