A study conducted by a local Malaysian university research center indicated that the public may gradually become confident in the Malaysian government’s ability to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UCSI Public Opinion Research Center conducted four surveys from January 18 to April 5, requiring stakeholders to have a trust level of 1 (no confidence at all) to 10 (very confident).

The average score of the latest survey conducted from March 31 to April 5 was 6.50.

This indicates that the previous survey trend was conducted between January 18-20 (average epidemic 5.59), February 6-8 (average epidemic 5.79) and February 19-22 (average epidemic 5.88) The initial increase.

In the same group of surveys, investors’ “level of confidence in the Covid-19 vaccine” were also questioned, indicating a similar rise in public opinion.

The latest survey ended in April, and the average score for vaccine questions was 6.41, while the average score for the first survey conducted in January was 5.82.

The four surveys conducted from January to April involved 980, 649, 618 and 1136 interveners.

Dr. Pek Chuen Khee, chief associate professor of the UCSI Poll Research Center, said in a statement today that the public’s trust in the government’s management of the Covid-19 issue and the management of the Covid-19 vaccine seems to be positively correlated.

“The international and local successful cases prove that the risk level is very low, and more people are excited about vaccination.”

He added: “In the eyes of the public, there are more and more health issues, and the government is expected to set more priorities for the people and the country in accordance with the 2030 common prosperity goal.”

The first three new coronavirus cases were detected in Malaysia on January 25, 2020.

The government now hopes to implant at least 80% of the population into the “National Covid-19 Immunization Program” that started and ended the pandemic on February 24.
