After months of suspension, the Iraqi parliament voted on the general budget law, which had been put to hold due to the existence of controversial paragraphs that threatened to cause political conflicts. Experts in Iraqi political matters agree that the discrepancies exacerbate the country’s political situation, and therefore Article 38 of the draft law has been deleted, which mandates that ministries and government departments allow private sector investment, and to transfer percentages of investment returns to the state treasury.
